The XC40 Recharge is now common enough on the Australian used market to be worth being careful about, for two reasons: the packs vary considerably, and Volvo's position on capacity is genuinely unclear.

Note the first row. The original P8 AWD carried a larger pack than the later Single Motor and returned a shorter claimed range — 75 kWh for 418 km against 66 kWh for 467 km. Volvo improved efficiency substantially between those cars, and it means a newer XC40 Recharge with a smaller battery goes further than an older one with a bigger battery.
If you are comparing a 2021 and a 2023 on range, the battery size will mislead you.
The warranty contradiction
Volvo covers the battery for 8 years or 160,000 km, transferable. On capacity, two official Volvo Cars Australia pages disagree — the battery page promises repair or replacement below 70%, the warranty page publishes no percentage and excludes normal gradual capacity loss.

What normal looks like
The P8 cars are now four to five years old. Expect mid-to-high eighties on a well-kept example. The 2023 cars should be in the low nineties.
These are actively cooled, conservatively managed packs and they age predictably — the variation you see between individual cars will be down to climate and charging habits more than anything inherent.
