The Central Coast is one of the clearest coverage gaps in Australian EV servicing. NRMA's battery health check — the biggest name in the category — covers Sydney Metro and Canberra only. The other national providers have no page for the region at all. There is no AVILOO-partnered tester listed anywhere between Sydney and Newcastle.
We cover it.
Where we go
Gosford, Erina, Terrigal, Avoca, Wamberal, Woy Woy and the Peninsula, Umina, Ettalong, Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance, Bateau Bay, Toukley, Long Jetty, Kariong and Somersby.
$249 per vehicle, we come to the car. The vehicle stays where it is and you get the written report at the appointment.
Why the Central Coast has a lot of EVs worth checking
Two things make this a distinctive market.
The Sydney commute. A large number of Central Coast EVs do the M1 run into Sydney, and that is among the hardest use patterns for an electric car — long distances at sustained highway speed, where efficiency is at its worst, and typically a deep discharge and full recharge most working days. Those are real cycles, and cycles age a pack more than kilometres do.
If you are buying a car that has done that commute, its odometer understates how hard it has worked. That is not a reason to avoid it. It is a reason to look at the battery rather than the number on the dash.
Cars bought in Sydney and moved here. A significant share of Central Coast EVs were bought in Sydney and relocated, which means their early life happened somewhere hotter. Where a car spent its first three summers matters more than most buyers realise, because heat is the main driver of capacity loss.
Range is a practical question here, not a theoretical one
Charging infrastructure is thinner than in the metropolitan area, and the distances are longer. A car at 82% State of Health may be perfectly fine for Gosford errands and marginal for a winter round trip to Sydney with the heater running.
That is the question worth answering before you buy, and it is not answered by a percentage on its own — it is answered by working out what the real range is now. The range reality calculator does that arithmetic honestly, including the winter penalty and a sensible reserve.
Booking
Online booking is open for Central Coast postcodes. $249, no travel surcharge. Phone 02 7252 1390 if you would rather arrange it that way, or if your address sits outside the suburbs listed above and you want a straight answer about whether we can reach it.
