Every test produces a numbered certificate. This page explains what is on it, where each number comes from, and — the part that matters — what it cannot tell you.
The Battery Grade
Every certificate carries a letter grade derived directly from the measured State of Health:

The grade is derived from the measured percentage, never instead of it. Both appear on the certificate. It exists because "B" travels in a conversation and in a classified advertisement in a way that "84.2%" does not — not because it adds information.
The five-year projection
The certificate includes a modelled projection of State of Health over the next five years, and the distance to the 70% manufacturer warranty floor.
What it is built from: the measured capacity today, the pack's observed charge and discharge behaviour, and established degradation patterns for that battery type and chemistry.
What it cannot do: predict your specific future. A projection cannot know that you are about to start a 90-minute commute, move somewhere hotter, begin fast-charging daily, or leave the car parked for six months. All of those change the outcome, and none of them are in the model.
Treat it as the trajectory the car is currently on, not a promise about where it will end up. We would rather you used it to compare two cars, or to see roughly how much warranty runway is left, than to plan a resale price in 2031.
Independent verification — the part that makes it worth something
Every certificate has a number and a QR code, and anyone can check it at our verification page without an account and without your permission.
Verification shows the issue date, the vehicle's year, make and model, the measured State of Health at the time of test, its grade, and who tested it. It shows nothing about you — no name, no phone number, no email, no address.
This is the difference between a certificate and a PDF. A PDF is a file somebody sent you, and a buyer looking at one has no way of knowing whether it belongs to that car, whether it has been altered, or whether it exists at all. A verifiable certificate can be checked by the person who has the most reason to doubt it.
Why that matters when you sell
A used EV listing with "battery health certified, grade B, 86%, certificate EVB-CERT-2026-00XXX, verify at evbatterylab.com.au/verify" is doing something no other listing on the page is doing. It is making a claim that the reader can check for themselves in ten seconds.
That is the whole argument for a seller paying for a test. Not that it proves the battery is good — the measurement does that — but that it proves it to a stranger who has no reason to believe you.
What is not on the certificate
Deliberately: no overall condition score for the vehicle, no valuation, no recommendation on what you should pay. We measure a battery. We are not qualified to tell you what a car is worth, and a battery figure alone is not a sound basis for a valuation of somebody's biggest purchase.
It is also not a safety certificate, a roadworthy, or a pre-purchase inspection. It says nothing about brakes, suspension, structure or service history.
Corrections
A certificate cannot be edited once issued. If a correction is ever needed, a new version is issued with the reason recorded and the previous version retained. Nothing is quietly changed, and the history stays available — which is the only way an immutable record is worth anything.
