GWM does something no other manufacturer in Australia does: it covers the Ora's traction battery for 8 years with unlimited kilometres for private use, with a 70% State of Health floor. Commercial-use vehicles are capped at 150,000 km.

That removes the constraint that binds almost every other EV warranty. On a Tesla, a Kia or a Mini, distance usually runs out before time for anyone driving more than about 20,000 km a year. On a privately-owned Ora, the only limit is the in-service date.

The small one is tight

45.4 kWh usable at a modelled 17.5 kWh/100 km is about 259 km real-world when new. At 88% State of Health, roughly 228 km. At 80%, about 207 km.

That is a perfectly good city car and it is priced like one. But it is a long way from 320 km, and anyone buying on the claimed figure for regular longer trips will be disappointed by physics rather than by the battery.

The Extended Range is a different proposition — a measured Australian road test returned 15.5 kWh/100 km, which on 59.3 kWh usable is around 380 km real-world. That is genuinely good for the money.

  • Which variant — 45.4 or 59.3 kWh usable

  • The in-service date, which for a private car is now the only warranty limit that matters

  • Whether the car has been in commercial use, which reintroduces the 150,000 km cap

  • Measured State of Health against the 70% floor, and cell voltage spread
