Lexus publishes a 70% capacity guarantee for exactly one model, and this is it. The RZ 450e's battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000 km with a 70% floor. Every Lexus hybrid and plug-in hybrid gets defect cover with capacity degradation explicitly excluded. If you are choosing between a used RZ and a used NX 450h+, that difference is worth more than most of the equipment gap.
The pack
| Variant | Years | Usable kWh | Claimed range (WLTP) | Real-world consumption |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury / Sports Luxury | 2023–2025 | 64.0 (71.4 gross) | 440 km | 18.3 kWh/100km — modelled |
Two things stand out. First, the buffer: 71.4 kWh gross against 64.0 usable is a conservative 10% held back, which is good for longevity. Second, the range: 64 kWh at a modelled 18.3 kWh/100 km is roughly 350 km of real driving against a 440 km claim. The RZ is a heavy, quiet, well-built car that is not especially efficient, and buyers coming from a Lexus hybrid's 800 km tank need to know that before they fall for the cabin.
What Lexus does not say
Lexus does not publish whether the battery warranty transfers to a second owner. We have not assumed it does. Lexus also states that measurement methods and replacement decisions rest solely with Lexus Australia — which is normal, but means an independent, dated measurement of the pack is the only evidence you will hold that is not theirs. What normal looks like
The earliest RZs are now three years old. A well-kept example should read in the low-to-mid nineties. These are liquid-cooled, conservatively managed nickel-chemistry packs, and the variation between cars will come from charging habits and climate more than from anything inherent. A car that lived on a DC charger and sat at 100% will read lower than one charged at home to 80%.
