Most sellers say no, reasonably. Their insurance almost certainly does not cover you, and there are other buyers who are not asking.
A diagnostic read happens at their address, in minutes, with nothing written to the car and no driving. Framed that way, sellers almost always say yes — particularly when you are the one paying. And a seller who refuses a short, read-only, buyer-funded check on a car they describe as perfect has told you something useful.
