The Mascot, Alexandria and Botany corridor has Sydney's densest concentration of rideshare, hire and commercial vehicles, and a growing share of them are electric.
When those cars come onto the used market, they need more scrutiny than almost anything else you will look at.
Why ex-rideshare EVs are a different purchase
They cycle constantly. A rideshare car may do a full charge-discharge cycle every single day, sometimes more. Cycles age a lithium battery faster than distance does, so a three-year-old ex-rideshare EV has often done more battery work than a six-year-old private car with the same odometer.
They fast-charge constantly. Time off the road costs money, so commercial drivers use DC rapid charging heavily. That generates heat, and heat drives capacity loss.
Some carry no battery warranty at all. This is the one that catches people. Toyota's bZ4X capacity cover excludes commercial use, naming taxi, hire and rideshare vehicles specifically. Toyota and Lexus hybrid cover drops to 160,000 km for commercial vehicles instead of unlimited. If the car came out of that world, the protection you assumed you were inheriting may simply not exist.
Ask the question directly
"Was this car ever used for rideshare or hire?" A vague answer is an answer. The service history, the interior wear pattern and the tyre replacement frequency will often tell you regardless.
None of this means avoid them. Ex-commercial EVs can be genuinely cheap. It means price them for what they are, and measure the battery rather than the odometer.
