The EV9 was sold in Australia with two different batteries, and the cheapest grade has the smaller one. The rear-drive Air carries 76.1 kWh and claims 443 km; the Earth, GT-Line and GT carry 99.8 kWh and claim 505–512 km. Because the big number is the one everyone remembers, used listings for Air models frequently quote 99.8 kWh. Check the grade before you believe the battery.

The AAA's measured 19.9 kWh/100 km on the rear-drive car is an honest number for a 2.5-tonne three-row SUV. It puts the Air at roughly 380 km of real driving, and it means the all-wheel-drive cars — heavier, with a second motor — will use more. We have not published a figure for them because we could not find a measured one.
What a big pack means for the test
A 99.8 kWh pack is one of the largest in any mainstream car sold here, and a family that uses an EV9 the way it is designed to be used — full of people, on the highway, DC fast-charging on trips — works it harder than a commuter works a hatchback. The car's 800-volt architecture supports very fast DC charging, and a car that has spent its life on fast chargers will have a different history from one charged at home overnight.
None of that is disqualifying. It is why the fast-charge history and the cell voltage spread matter more on this car than on a small EV, and why a measured State of Health figure is worth having before you commit to a six-figure used price.
