Most of the year, bushland helps
Heavy tree cover is genuinely protective. Heat is the primary driver of permanent lithium capacity loss, and shade is the cheapest thermal management there is — everything a manufacturer builds into a cooling system is trying to solve the problem that a large tree solves for nothing.
Bushland suburbs also cool down faster and further overnight than open suburbia. Combined with the garages standard on this housing stock, Engadine vehicles generally have a good thermal life, and they tend to measure that way.
The worst weeks are different
Fire season is the exception, and it is worth being straight about rather than vague.
Extreme heat events subject a vehicle to ambient temperatures far beyond a normal summer day, sometimes for hours, and a dark vehicle in direct sun sits well above the air temperature. Where a vehicle has been through a genuine extreme event — parked near an active fire ground, or exposed to sustained radiant heat — that is a different category from a hot February afternoon.
What we can tell you, from a battery read: the measured State of Health, cell voltage spread, temperature behaviour and any stored or pending high-voltage fault codes, including ones that have not triggered a dashboard light. On a heat-stressed pack, cell imbalance is the thing that shows first.
What we cannot tell you: whether heat damaged wiring insulation, seals, cooling lines or anything else outside the pack. That needs eyes on the vehicle and it is a mechanical inspection's job, not ours.
Ash and smoke are a cabin-filter and paint matter rather than a battery one. A pack is sealed.
Distances are real out here
Engadine and the suburbs around it are spread out, and the nearest services are a genuine drive. Public charging is thinner than in the inner suburbs, which makes real-world range a practical question rather than a specification.
