The Northern Beaches has a geography problem that affects electric cars more than most places in Sydney: long distances, limited routes, and thinner charging infrastructure than the inner suburbs.
Range is a practical question here
A commute from the northern end of the peninsula into the city is a long trip, largely on a single congested corridor. Add a weekend run further north and the weekly distance builds quickly.
Public charging is more spread out than in the inner suburbs, so owners rely more heavily on home charging — which is good for the battery — but have fewer options if they arrive home low.
The practical consequence: a capacity figure that would be academic in Newtown is a real constraint here. A car at 83% State of Health may be entirely fine for local driving and marginal for a winter round trip to the city with the heater on.
