Parramatta is Sydney's second CBD and one of the busiest used-car markets in the state, with the dealership strip along Church Street and Parramatta Road putting a large volume of stock through the area every month. A lot of it is now electric or hybrid.
Two things about Parramatta specifically change what we find in a battery.
Heat. Parramatta runs consistently hotter than the coastal suburbs through summer, often by several degrees and sometimes considerably more on the worst days. Heat is the single biggest driver of lithium capacity loss — more than kilometres, more than age. A car that has spent four summers here has had a harder thermal life than the same car in Manly.
Apartment living. Parramatta has a very high proportion of apartment dwellers, which mostly means basement parking. That is genuinely good news for a battery — an underground car park is one of the coolest places a car can sit through a Sydney February, and it removes the worst-case scenario of a black car baking on an uncovered driveway at 100% charge.
So Parramatta cars vary widely, and the variation tracks parking more than anything else. It is worth asking a seller where the car lived overnight, and it is worth measuring rather than assuming either way.
